Some Frequently Asked Volunteer Questions

For insurance liability reasons we require all volunteers be at least 18 years old the day of their shift.

Joyful Noise is held at the National Sports Center (1700 105th Ave NE, Blaine, MN 55449) June 12-13, 2020

We want to have a better understanding of the wonderful people involved. It helps us get to know you a little better, and to ensure we have the right people in the right places.

Yes, a background check is required to be a volunteer at Joyful Noise. Our aim is to serve our guests with a safe and pleasant time. Guests will receive direct interaction with volunteers, and depend on the safety measures we take to keep it a good experience.

Yes, HireRight is the third party vendor we use that performs the check.

Unfortunately, there is limited space and cannot necessarily offer a position to everyone at Joyful Noise.

We are working hard to review applications quickly and have background checks processed as soon as possible. If you are selected, you will receive an email from us with your area, and a link to sign up for your specific shift within that area.

There are a variety of areas where we will be placing volunteers, noted on the application (Gate Greeter, Golf Cart Shuttle Driver, Merchandise Sales, Merchandise load in / load out, Where Most Needed / Other). We do our best to place volunteers in the area they would like to be in, however we appreciate your flexibility.

While we try to keep people together in the same area, we cannot guarantee you will be placed together. You will have the opportunity to select your shift times.

We will only place you in one shift, but you are able to request more than one shift by indicating that in the comments section at the end of your application. Additional shifts are not guaranteed, and will depend on availability.

Yes! You will get admission to Joyful Noise for both days of the festival, provided you work a shift! Note that this admission is only for you as a thank you for volunteering, and cannot be transferred to another person.
